<p>Grafana is an open-source platform designed for monitoring and observability, as well as for creating interactive and customizable dashboards for various data sources. It enables users to visualize and understand data from different systems, applications, and devices in real-time. Grafana is highly flexible and can be integrated with a wide range of data sources, making it a popular tool for monitoring and analyzing metrics and logs.</p>

<h2 id="heading-how-to-create-a-memory-alert-httpshashnodecomdraft64ea2f06c80df8000f6ccad12"><a target="_blank" href="https://hashnode.com/draft/64ea2f06c80df8000f6ccad12">How to Create a Memory Alert :</a></h2>
<ul>
<li><p><strong>Set Up Data Source</strong>: Ensure that you have a data source configured in Grafana that provides memory usage metrics. This could be a monitoring system like Prometheus, InfluxDB, or any other data source that collects memory-related metrics</p>
<p>  <img src="https://cdn.hashnode.com/res/hashnode/image/upload/v1693076717890/9df51320-f8b3-4f7b-bf7d-4459514c5799.png" alt class="image--center mx-auto" /></p>
</li>
<li><p><strong>Create a Memory Usage Visualization</strong>: Build a visualization that shows memory usage over time. A common choice is a line chart or area chart where the x-axis represents time and the y-axis represents memory usage.</p>
</li>
<li><p>You can press or right-click the mouse or press e on the keyboard.</p>
</li>
<li><p><img src="https://cdn.hashnode.com/res/hashnode/image/upload/v1693075736514/83807154-3e45-4713-9f3f-2f2bc7698830.png" alt class="image--center mx-auto" /></p>
<p> Then open the dashboard. Then click the alert option and <strong>create an alert for this panel.</strong> Shown in given below <a target="_blank" href="https://emojipedia.org/backhand-index-pointing-down">👇👇</a>.</p>
</li>
<li><p><img src="https://cdn.hashnode.com/res/hashnode/image/upload/v1693076213008/549ddbff-1edc-4f8b-b742-a584bb67f27c.png" alt class="image--center mx-auto" /></p>
<p> <strong>Create an Alert Rule</strong>: Alerts in Grafana are created based on alert rules. To set up an alert rule:</p>
<p> a. Go to the dashboard that contains your memory usage visualization. b. Click on the panel options (three dots) in the top-right corner of the panel. c. Select "Edit." d. In the "Alert" tab of the panel editor, click on "Create Alert." e. Configure the alert rule, including the evaluation interval, condition (e.g., memory usage &gt; threshold), and the thresholds you defined earlier.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Then open this dashboard in this dashboard write the alert name</p>
</li>
<li><p><img src="https://cdn.hashnode.com/res/hashnode/image/upload/v1693076462393/e8a0c3e8-86f8-4911-a976-598b87fb47d2.png" alt class="image--center mx-auto" /></p>
<p> Then You can see all <strong>queries like a,b,c,d</strong>. You are focusing only on the <strong>B query</strong>. Because <strong>B query</strong> only shows the data of used memory shows the dashboard given below <a target="_blank" href="https://emojipedia.org/backhand-index-pointing-down">👇👇</a>. In white colour show vm or server IP or hostname. I can not see bcoz private.</p>
</li>
<li><p><img src="https://cdn.hashnode.com/res/hashnode/image/upload/v1693076945360/1a80a663-8678-437c-beac-3d5f5cf5f168.png" alt class="image--center mx-auto" /></p>
<p> <strong>Define Thresholds</strong>: Determine the memory usage thresholds that you want to set for your alert. For instance, you might want to set thresholds for "Warning" and "Critical" levels of memory usage.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Then firstly create <strong>Reduce Function (Max)</strong>. Then <strong>Input(B)</strong>. Because only for use <strong>B query</strong> B say how much memory is used.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Then Create <strong>Thresholds</strong> is above select and put the <strong>max</strong> value of used memory. You can put any highest value.</p>
</li>
<li><p>In value use of <strong>byte</strong> So you can calculate <strong>gb to byte</strong>. Then press the <strong>Preview button</strong> and show <strong>normal (0)</strong> so successfully condition.</p>
</li>
<li><p><img src="https://cdn.hashnode.com/res/hashnode/image/upload/v1693077208419/5c9c005a-0150-4343-ac47-3fc5c0db6bc1.png" alt class="image--center mx-auto" /></p>
<p> <strong>Alert evaluation behavior</strong>:- Then file folder name and then Evaluation group name file.</p>
</li>
<li><p><img src="https://cdn.hashnode.com/res/hashnode/image/upload/v1693077638290/f121026c-dff6-435a-a10b-e3eed56c4f37.png" alt class="image--center mx-auto" /></p>
<p> <strong>Save and Test</strong>: Save the alert rule configuration. You can manually trigger the alert rule by simulating the condition (e.g., by injecting mock data that exceeds the memory usage threshold) to ensure that the alerting mechanism is working as expected.</p>
</li>
<li><p><img src="https://cdn.hashnode.com/res/hashnode/image/upload/v1693077839121/704e48c0-eace-43bf-9ce3-8048b986be3d.png" alt class="image--center mx-auto" /></p>
<p> <strong>Configure Alert Notifications</strong>: Once the alert rule is set up, you need to specify how you want to be notified when the alert conditions are met:</p>
<p> a. In the alert rule settings, find the "Notifications" section. b. Configure the notification channels you want to use, such as email, Slack, PagerDuty, etc. This might involve setting up notification channels in Grafana if you haven't done so already.</p>
</li>
<li><p><img src="https://cdn.hashnode.com/res/hashnode/image/upload/v1693078032141/0a336a92-b692-4b4b-b41c-eecce85a62b3.png" alt class="image--center mx-auto" /></p>
</li>
<li><p>Then click the <strong>edit</strong> option and then file <strong>email</strong> and you can choose anyone you want to send mail to. I am configured to <strong>mail</strong>. <strong>file name</strong> then file email then save. You can check the <strong>notification</strong> tab to test button.</p>
</li>
<li><p><img src="https://cdn.hashnode.com/res/hashnode/image/upload/v1693078128676/92f11608-ea4f-44a6-8d39-aac76667fd83.png" alt class="image--center mx-auto" /></p>
</li>
</ul>
<h2 id="heading-how-to-create-a-hard-disk-alert-httpshashnodecomdraft64ea2f06c80df8000f6ccad12"><a target="_blank" href="https://hashnode.com/draft/64ea2f06c80df8000f6ccad12">How to create a Hard Disk Alert :</a></h2>
<ul>
<li><p>In the Hard Disk alert click the dashboard shown in given below.</p>

</li>
<li><p>The same rule is followed like a <strong>Memory alert</strong>. Now move on direct query task. In the <strong>hard disk</strong>, only <strong>1 query</strong> exited. So create an alert with only <strong>1 query</strong>.</p>
</li>
<li><p><img src="https://cdn.hashnode.com/res/hashnode/image/upload/v1693078710866/1aac131f-afae-4e92-9375-bce059dec8f8.png" alt class="image--center mx-auto" /></p>
<p> You can see a lot of <strong>mount points</strong> in this diagram. The <strong>white</strong> circle shows the <strong>mount point.</strong></p>

</li>
<li><p>Then Click the <strong>builder</strong> option. And set device query. Because You are set of hard disk alert. You can face one problem. In hard disk lots of mount points are available. So You can <strong>devioce (!~)</strong> use. You hide all <strong>mount points</strong> and show only specific mount points when you want to alert the trigger.</p>
</li>
<li><p><img src="https://cdn.hashnode.com/res/hashnode/image/upload/v1693123580522/69cc7c75-a303-48c4-b888-e60d8355c9cb.png" alt class="image--center mx-auto" /></p>
<p> Then click on the <strong>code</strong> option. Then write 100 because when you click the <strong>builder</strong> option the 100 value is automatically hidden. So you can write 100. Then click the <strong>preview</strong> option. You can see in the diagram show only one mount point.</p>
</li>
<li><p><img src="https://cdn.hashnode.com/res/hashnode/image/upload/v1693123991547/c193a3a9-b79c-4d6f-938a-94782802ad57.png" alt class="image--center mx-auto" /></p>
<p> Then create the <strong>folder</strong> name create the <strong>Evaluation group</strong> name then <strong>Save and Exit</strong>.</p>
